Five things to do with your NORRIS campaign yard signs now that you realize he is totally unqualified:

#5. Family Craft Night: Let the kids go nuts with glue, glitter and markers to announce yard sale to fund AIG bailout.

#4. Line your property with them to prevent coyote attacks.

#3. Paint easily readable lines on them so Public Works can measure exactly how many feet your yard is under water.

#2. Use them to fill the pot holes.

#1. (Removed by the editor after being flagged by two readers.)

I was not at the event, what was so bad about him? I see more and more of his signs every where this moning down Maple.

All I can say is that I do not plan on ever buying anymore raffle tickets for the DGTRO. It is so obvious that Norris is nothing more than a puppet of the DGTRO Chair. His signs match the other Republicans and they are even hanging in the DGTRO office windows. I wonder how much DGTRO money was funneled to Norris??? The DGTRO should stay out of non-partisan elections. Furthermore, there are so many more residents more qualified than Norris. I have always thought one should have at least served on a Commission or performed more civic minded extracurriculars that are related to Downers Grove in order to persue running for one of the top positions in the village.

If the number of posted signs for a candidate were any predictor of being elected, Chris Lavoie would be on the Village Council.

I also saw the Candidates Forum last night. Mr. Norris seems like a nice person who is not at all ready yet. My vote goes to Waldack, Schnell and Barnett.

About the Park District Candidate’s Forum, I thought I was watching a Saturday Night Live skit.

I wonder how Norris is being funded and organized. Hmmm. Anyone want to bet its the guy who lost the last Mayoral election?

His signs are placed very strategically. I wouldn’t say he has more signs than the rest of the candidates. His are placed on easements and should be taken down. Just look across the street from Good Sam Hospital or down 63rd. His signs are placed on the public easement right next to the sidewalk. Village ordinance states you can only have political yard signs on private property, so why do I see them on the public easement? Who is in charge of enforcing this law?

It seems wherever you see Norris signs you also see signs for Wurster and Anderson for township. They aren’t any more qualified than Norris. No wonder Krajewski’s backing them.

At the last township meeting they discussed the new Hwy Commission budget where Anderson plans on spending all but $2000 of the dwindling surplus Uncle Ed left the Dept. When a concerned citizen asked him about some of the vaguely worded planned expenditures Chris West had to step in and answer for him because he doesn’t seem to know much about it at all. He did pipe up when asked about spending $5000 for office equipment and said that’s in case a copier or something breaks down. It begs the question what a Hwy Dept. with 9 full time employees needs with a $5000 copier.

As for Wurster he’s signed off on at least four year end financial statements, and maybe more, that the Twp’s handpicked auditors have given failing grades to for not following accepted accounting standards and omitting some capital assets.

Mr. Sandack’s signs were all over the easements and on lots of VACANT HOMES – did you complain about them?!

Leave the former Mayor out of this already.. he has forgotten all about you!

#6. Create your own personalized message to Mark Garrity explaining to him the concepts of “stay on topic” and “rats a**”.

    Thanks BK for your reply.

And yes I did complain about all the signs that were not properly placed. The village posted sign guidelines on the village website during the Presidential campaign. Everyone should be aware of the laws.

  • Sandy

Chris Lavoie…….now there is a name from the past. Just imagine his fuel costs if he did win the election driving from his main residence in Plainfield to the Village of Downers Grove for Council meetings????

Anyone ever see him anymore??? Another BK guy that has hit the high road out of town.

Clever Yikes. But you’ll notice there’s no forums anywhere for DG Twp candidates. And that’s just the way current Twp government likes it. Out of sight, out of mind is how they’d like to stay. They’re happy you don’t give a rats a** about the way they spend your money.

  • Gary

Why did you remove my comments? They where right on? Why are you protecting the person that I commented on?

  • Sandy

You are right on about the Township. I wish you would expose them more. Frank Wurster signing off on financails against GAP is crazy. Why would I want him as my Supervisor?

This comment has been deleted because I don’t offer free political advertising on this blog. However, if you want to discuss why you feel your choice is a good candidate, feel free to do so.

    Thanks,

    Gary:

I removed your comment because it was pure speculation on how a certain private citizen might have run his campaign, had he chosen to run, which he did not.

As for why I’m “protecting” this person: For the same reason I’m “protecting” you and the other sock puppets on this site, Gary. You haven’t chosen to go public in the way an announced candidate, elected official or journalist has.

  • Gary

I respect your decision to protect certain people but if the person I mentioned deserves protection I am surprised considering how enforces politics in DG and the DGTRO.

    Thanks for the clarefication.

KDS strikes again. Oh, the horror…

The first post up top is one of those you feel bad about laughing at while you read it. Norris must not have been prepped for how it is being up there. With the lights kind of in your face, and everyone in the room focused on you, and the one guy holding up time sheets, it’s intimidating the first time. I felt for him. Waldack did an excellent job, Barnett seemed at ease after it got going, and Schnell showed her experience.

I felt for Janet Barr too, for the same reasons. Don’t hold it against them, just vote for who you think will best represent you and be responsive and responsible.

Looking at just one issue, I strongly disagree with Norris on sidewalks. I completely support the goal of having a sidewalk on one side of every street in Downers Grove. The decision to have a sidewalk shouldn’t be made on a block-by-block basis based on a vote of the residents of the block. The sidewalk is for the benefit of the whole neighborhood and the wider community. Understanding that kind of goal is basic in my mind to being a good leader for Downers Grove.

  • Bob4Council2009

We need to step into this century people. I read in a local paper that some guy doesnt have kids on his block so sidewalks should not be installed. That kind of logic blows my mind. Kids will live on that street again sir, maybe not until your dead and gone. Downers Grove is bigger than any one of us and the good of the whole village should come first.

With one exception, and that was Mr. Norris, all candidates for Council seemed to indicate we should actively look at the idea of additional railroad underpasses/overpasses in DG. Mr. Barnett was on point when he indicated that if we started the planning process now, it would take about 10 years to start the project. With the exception of some minor costs the over $50 million project at Belmont will not cost the good citizens of DG tax dollars. Mr. Norris indicated he would not support such planning. Too bad, DG is one of the most dangerous and congested railroad communities in the U.S.
