Sister city maybe?

Tonight council met with officials from Beitigheim-Bissingen, and are considering establishing a Sister City relationship with them.   Beitigheim-Bissingen, a suburb of Stuttgart, has a population of about 43,000.  Council exchanged gifts with the Beitigheim-Bissingen officials, and will take up sister city status sometime in the future.

Vunderbar! I have relatives in that area!

    This is a fine idea.

For years now, the District 99 Orchestra (which is comprised of students from DGN and DGS), and Bands from both schools have had an exchange program with the music school in Beitigheim-Bissingen (which is a twin city combination like Champaign-Urbana).

Every few years, our students go there and are hosted by the locals and every few years, they come here and we host them in our homes.

My family has been on both sides of this equation and we have nothing but good things to say about these exchanges and the students and parents from Beitigheim-Bissingen.

Their town hall was built in 1560… I bet it’s in better shape than ours.

    OOPS, actually built in 1506

I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with a few of these folks last night. They are quite a delightful group and DG has much in common with their city.

1506? Maybe DG should send some people over to learn how to take care of what they already have!

Not the point that I was trying to make. The current facility is a joke and should be replaced.

I don’t think Beitigheim-Bissingen would qualify as our “sister city” because they have a water park.

Editor’s note: Scroll down to “bader.”

Family of four or more about $240/year.

Maybe DGPD can get some reciprocal deal going with them.
