Truth is, I hesitated to share the best place in Downers Grove from which to view the fireworks in Thursday’s Sun column.
It’s perfect as is, with plenty of space between blankets and room for the kids to roam. It’s definitely “our place” every Fourth of July. And if others are equally loyal to 75th Street or some other favorite location, great.
Speaking of primo places, don’t forget to get the lawn furniture onto the Main Street curb early Saturday. Or even Friday night, if last year’s pre-parade reservation system is any indication.
You outed the spot, EJ!!!! How could you? There is usually only 10 -20 cars there, now who knows!!!
A lot of towns cancelled thier fireworks and/or parades and crowds did seem heavier at OB on the 3rd and CH on the 4th. We secured great seats at the interscetion of Prairie and Main 15 minutes before the parade started as people can’t “reserve” seats in the interesections until the police block them off.
I love the families and citizens, who prior to the parade not only put chairs down to grab their spot as we all do but then they go as far as to tie rope linking all their chairs and roping off the area surrounding their chairs so that kids can’t get around, in front or behind them for the big goodie grab during the parade.
