Brian Krajewski has announced he will file and run for the seat being vacated by Kyle Gilgis here in District 3, which includes roughly the south half of Downers Grove.
Mr. Krajewski’s business offices are in Downers Grove, where he has been a life long resident. He is listed as a general practice attorney, and is currently the Chairman of the Downers Grove Township Republican Party.
Krajewski served as Mayor of Downers Grove two terms from 1999-2007, defeating current Council Commisioner Marilyn Schnell in 1999, and running unopposed in 2003. As mayor, Krajewski led efforts to redevelop the Central Business District, creation of the Ogden Avenue TIF district, and planning for the Belmont Underpass. He lost his bid for a third term as mayor in a highly charged campaign to current mayor Ron Sandack in 2007.

Looks like there will be a man with a clip board hunting down everyone in DG and on the train for the next few months. Enjoy everyone.
Brian is the person to fill the Gilgis seat hands down. His leadership as DG Township Republican party Chairman and his many accomplishments as mayor for 2 terms of DG makes him my easy choice. Hopefully, the residents of DG township will vote him in.
As far as our friend with the clipboard goes, I say at least he is involved and cares about DG. It is easy to criticize from the sidelines!
There goes District 3 if BK gets in……………..yearly golf outings which lead to big campaign accounts, guy with clip board harassing you to buy tables of 10, buy hole sponsorships ect……………..
There is no one else to run???????????????
yes, Jamie – put your money where you MOUTH is – why don’t you run?!
Or oh no! why don’t you?!
really easy to criticize from the sidelines!!!!!!
Oh, boy. Just like Palin, ran up village debt and split.
Oh boy! Just like President Obama, ran up the national debt by almost a trillion dollars with in his first six months. Now he wants to run it up another 2 or 3 trillion with health care. I hope he splits!
The above comments are far afield from the topic. But c’mon Chad, what was the Bush II impact on the national debt. How ’bout trying to be “fair and balanced” please.
By the time George W. Bush was inaugurated in 2001, the National Debt stood at $5.7-trillion. He ran up more debt faster than nearly all of his predecessors combined: just under $4.9-trillion.
The National Debt stood at $10.6-trillon on the day Barack Obama took office. But if his budget projections are accurate, he’ll run up nearly as much government debt in four years as President Bush did in eight. For the record in his first 8 months in office Obama is on a record pace. He has added $1,023,122,639,591 in national debt for a total of $11,659,644,290,012.
There John, fair and balanced!
Ok, back on topic.
Since there is no official election for this seat and there are many suitors, I think Mr. Schillerstrom will have his hands full making this appointment.
John, Please don’t challenge Chad’s assigned talking points. He’s not allowed to back down from them once he states them so your’e just encouraging repetition.
LOL. Behave Bman…
I think BK might do a good job. He knows the mayors in the area, he’s familiar with the county political ropes and knows most of the folks there too. I don’t know Mr. Abbott, but we should probably think about doing work ups on whoever ends up doing petitions.
I have yet to read or know of any Democratic Party candidates announcing. Mark, if you’re reading this and know, lemme know so I can put up the same kind of blurb on them. Petitions start pretty soon. Last cycle Bob Brandt of Woodridge spent less than $6,000 and came within 3,339 votes of winning one of two open seats.
It’s ok MT.
Don’t mind me…I am just part of the angry mob that the GOP is coaching to speak out against the Presidents socialist agenda! LOL
Emo Fan…do your homework on B.K. He left a healthy surplus not deficit as he departed from the mayor’s office. DG is in a pretty good shape financially do to his leadership and Ron’s continual fiscal attentiveness during his present tenure.
As far as golf outings go….I say don’t go. As a long time resident, I care about good schools, safe streets, moderate property taxes resulting from local business development and fiscal responsiblity from our elected officials. We have had all from both Brian and Ron and their administrations. I’d venture to guess that even Ron would say Brian is qualified for the position.
Debt is up for all the TIF mess, and is now increasing to fix flooding in blocks which choose to be rural. Since 1999 all taxes have gone up in type and rates.
Oh and the 10 ten T-bond rate is now lower, 3.6 then the rate under Bush.
He is by FAR the most qualified DOWNERS GROVE RESIDENT, for the job. Make sure we put a DG resident in that District seat. We deserve to have that seat filled with a DG person. I don’t believe there to be a more qualifed, (bleeds DG) person who knows the county like BK…
Lets see if the political hacks in this town can all come together for the best interests of this town…And that would mean putting BK in that seat… Come now….lets all get along.
I have heard that only a few have thrown their hat in the ring. Well said DG Dad. I think people need to move on over the whole BK Sandack thing! But hey that’s just me.
I have gotten to know Brian over the last several years. I don’t like to discuss politics with him and I esp. don’t like to discuss partisan matters with him. But really folks you can’t fnd a guy who thinks more of our town or our kids and families. He will work hard for DuPage, but he will work hard for our town, too. I do not find him to have political ‘aspirations’ but I do find him to be caring and very knowledgeable about matters in DuPage which would serve him well as a Board member.
Ms. Drews is right. Krajewski would do us good. Did he send in a letter for the Schillerstrom appointment I wonder?
Some folks refuse to move on though.
Emo Fan….
debt is up for TIF because the TIF ( and I would assume you are referring to Downtown not Ogden)…was used (downtown), to replace a dilapidated-bombed out infrastructure which was left for many many years unattended… Now we have a flourishing downtown with Taxable values of real estate there several times what they were when he arrived. Also…several voted for the TIF structure not just one person…Are you part of that group?…you know…CAVE….Citizens Against Virtually Everyting…including paving our roads, replacing our 150 year old water mains, and putting storm sewers in a community that needs them…. Rural???no…DG is not rural…maybe back in the 20′s and 30′s DG was rural…but now it is a thriving 50k plus person metropolis (like it or not), with NEEDS- not wants- but NEEDS.
My downtown property values have gone up, but downtown real estate taxes have nearly doubled. Not a great trade off when you have rental property and cannot pass it on in a very tough rental market. Still and all, there is something about the downtown area that is very special.
As far as Brian goes, hopefully the pay to play politics is a thing of the past and some of his rough edges in dealing with people have become a little smoother. He is very talented and can get things done.
There is no question that without Brian there would not be a Belmont underpass.
DGDAD is absolutely on target. If we do not continue to repair the infrastructure of our Suburban (not rural) city, we’ll have larger problems to confront structurally in the future.
Karol Sole is the Dem running for CB3. You know where to find her Mark. Krajewski is a joke and I don’t know anything about the other guy.
When Jimmy Carter left office we had a $990 billion dollar national debt. Arthur Laffer the author of Reagan’s trickle down economics didn’t even know the other day Medicare and Medicaid are government programs. When Bush 11 left office
the national debt was $11 trillion. That’s not counting the trillions the Republican appointed fed chairman Ben Bernanke fed Wall St.
And we didn’t even get any new sidewalks for all that cash.
Mr. Garrity,
All you do is attack candidates who want to serve their communities. I am sure that Mr. Krajewski would have the best interests of the people he represents if he were appointed to this seat. Nice cheap shot at Judy Biggert in the Reporter last week. You have no clue about what she stands for. Judy is a women of integrity. Last time I checked you lost a Township election, so why should anyone listen to you? Take your attacks and go play in another county like COOK!
Yeah, this county ain’t big enough for the both of us…
If you repeat your talking points over and over, and I repeat my talking points over and over, we’ll end up the only two here.
Which is why I’m letting you guys know I’ll just keep pulling or editing down comments if you can’t:
* Stay on topic
* Keep it clean
* Be respectful
* Whenever possible, address issues and ideas instead of individuals or personalities
* Limit quotes from other sources to a couple of paragraphs max
* Don’t repeat rumors; back up your statements or arguments with facts
* Flag comments you find offensive
* Commenting on this blog is a privilege, not a right; those who abuse the privilege will be moderated. Repeat offenders will be blocked.
Chad, you accuse MG of taking a cheap shot in the Reporter? And then take your own cheap shot about last time you checked election results. C’mon, that is not you and you know it. Let those comments sit a bit before you hit send.
Mark, every time I drift off the local stage I get reminded this is a hyperlocal blog. Carter, Reagan, Bush, and the rest take to Prairie State Blue or Illinois Review, or Townhall or Daily Kos. Or to the DGTDem website. I would suggest that no one who chooses to run for office is a joke, including me and you. Not even Kinky Friedman (and I have my doubts those cigars are tobacco, if you get my drift).
How is that a cheap shot? He did lose?
EJ, take back your blog from MT.
Hey Garrity,
weren’t you the “joke” outside the senior housing community (private), on Monday, trying to cause a scene about promoting the total government takeover of our health care system. It was the private citizens of that home that thought you and your merry band of “jokesters” were the irrational idiots. I think you don’t like BK cause he is in charge of the DGTRO, which is quite strong in this county….You picked the wrong sheriff to gun down…
OBTW…
Pay no attention to the trillions of debt the current DEM controlled state and National governments are piling up….last time I looked, Bush isn’t running this country the Dems are….and we are bleeding 3x’s as much as we were before. Not saying Repubs were the answer..but come on….You appear to be a great Illusionist…ya know…looky looky over THERE so you can’t see my slight of hand over HERE….To even think we need more of the same alah, big government, big spending and big deficits is foolish, 2/3rds of Indpendants (who really make the true choices), are worried more now than they were about IRAQ…. somp’n gots to change, and that would be a less lopsided state and federal government…and yes works from the other view point. If the Repubs. didn’t control congress and WH, they wouldn’t have shot themselves in the foot earlier in this decade, just like the ruling party is doing now…. can’t hide it dude.
The “seniors” are in a Federal program, Medicare..oh which some of them think is run by… the easter bunny??
Oh, and medical schools and Federal NIH do most drug research.
Lets check the 10 Year t-bond rate from finance.yahoo.com…. 3.7 Percent, lower than the 4.5 average in Bush’s second term. Go figure, are investors expecting shrinking deficits or a surplus like under..hmmm Clinton ??
Who ran the congress durring Clinton’s term? Hmmmmmmm. The GOP.
EMO
obviously you are not paying attention to today’s headlines:
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO STOP BUYING TREASURY BONDS…Yes that’s right…now our government is one of the largest owners of its own debt….to ARTIFICIALLY manipulate the rates.. Next time you are zipping through Yahoo Finance, you might want to actually read the articles not just the stock and bond quotes.
The Federal Reserve Bank is not the US Gov., Fed. Reserve is owned by member banks and is essentially Private, thats why Ron Paul wants to audit it.
Emo Fan: Not only is your comment totally off topic (“Krajewski announces for Gilgis seat”) but also incorrect.
The Federal Reserve is the central bank of the United States, founded by Congress in 1913. The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System is a federal government agency. The Board is composed of seven members, who are appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Notice the web site address -> http://www.federalreserve.gov/
