Former mayor Brian Krajewski led the DGreport straw poll for the District 3 county board seat vacated Aug. 31 by Kyle Gilgis.
Village commissioner Sean Durkin finished in second place and Westmont environmental consultant Karol Sole placed third. Former village commissioner Martin Tully was in fourth place and attorney Greg Abbott of Woodridge finished fifth.
Sole is the only one of the top five finishers who is a Democrat.
The poll, which garnered a total of 242 votes, is completely unscientific and even botched, in that about a dozen votes were inadvertently dropped when I attempted to edit the poll widget. My apologies. I’ll do better next time.
Krajewski has announced that he will seek the Republican nomination for the seat whether or not he is chosesn to finish Gilgis’ term by DuPage County Board Chairman Robert Schillerstrom. The primary is set for February 2, 2010. Schillerstrom has until November 1 to appoint Gilgis’ successor.
