D99: Best to toss these updated

September 24th, 2009 · by Mark Thoman · 5 Comments · District 99, Local politics

Dr. McDonald is in the house…and case closed.

After last night's D99 BOE meeting I noticed something...

No longer in the house...

Readers have probably noticed 99 Supt. Mark McDonald being kind of a calm polite center as the Board of Education’s various storms swirl around.  The guy is imperturbable as near as I can tell.  Efficient too.

He made a point of letting DGreport know that officials of the Downers Grove Township Democratic Party contacted D99 to acknowledge the error and apologize for inadvertently leaving political materials on school property. The District sent a letter to the DGTD Organization asking them to be vigilant about collecting their materials after meetings.

Administration officials have instructed the custodial staff member assigned to the admin building to collect any materials left behind by groups using the Administrative Services Center rooms and dispose of them—or contact the organization to return and pick them up.

Isn’t Beckman the 13th District Precent Chairwomen or something?

  • Mark Thoman

She is the 13th CD Committeewoman of the Democratic Party State Central Committee, which means she should be a staunch supporter of transparency, honesty, and common sense. Right? Anyone? Bueller?

    Mr. Thoman,
Your comment of September 28th seems to imply that ONLY the Democratic party would be a staunch supporter of transparency, honesty & common sense. You know as well as I that neither the democratic or republican parties know what those words mean.

Is that Bruce Beckmans wife from Council? I thought Bruce was a Republican?

  • Elaine Johnson

Julia Kennedy Beckman is not the wife of Commissioner Bruce Beckman.

Beckman’s wife, Micki, is a former D58 teacher and also was familiar to patrons of the the library’s Junior Room as “Miss Micki.”
