The Downtown Management Corp. launches the first annual Gingerbread House Contest. Entries are welcome in two divisions, Family/Individual and Business, and there will be voting for best in class. Winners for each division will be chosen by viewers choice during “It’s A Wonderful Weekend”, November 27 to November 29, another great reason to head downtown for fun that weekend. Full details on the contest and an application form are available on the Downtown Management Corp. website here.

Given Mayor Sandack's previous efforts at Gingerbread House building, one can understand his hesitancy to try again...
Warning: Attempted humor begins
Commissioner Durkin floated the idea of council putting together an entry which was promptly shot down by Mayor Sandack. When I called Ron a curmudgeon on the matter he insisted the proper term was a grinch.

This should be a pretty cool and fun addition to the Thanksgiving weekend tree lighting, Christmas parade, merchant holiday sales kick offs, and more. Plenty of reasons to be downtown for the weekend!
Now that is the kind of affordable housing I would support in Downers Grove!!
