Downers Grove South 3, Glenbard North 7
Mustangs hold for 3 quarters and only allow Panthers high powered offense one score. Panthers hold Mustangs to one score, and a late game INT seals it. Game recap here.
Great season guys, and an exciting, gritty playoff run!
Side note: The Mustang Boosters will hold their next meeting December 8th, and are always looking for parent volunteers to help out with the various events and fundraisers they organize and support.

Montini 31, Sycamore 17
Broncos (1-3, 7-4) bust out in the second half. Brandon Pechloff puts up phenomenal performance going 20/34 for 237 yards and 3 TDs to advance to the semi finals against Woodstock. Game recap here.
Woodstock Blue Streak (5-1, 8-3) are the Fox Valley champions. They give up points (24 ppg) but put up more (32 ppg), so it should be a great game.
Montini head coach Chris Andriano, in his 30+ years, has taken his team to the playoffs for the 17th straight season. They made the quarterfinals in 1982, 1992, and 1999, and won the state 4A championship in 2004.
Go Broncos!

Chad,
Glenbard East did not even make the playoffs. YOu stated that all 4 Glenbard schools were still in it as late as last weekend. As you scolded Meat for trying to get you to think a bit more locally, check your facts. I know you have a law enforcement background, so ease up on the inside info with the village. Most who are posting here have “inside” connections. Heck, the VC lives in town so it’s only natural that people have run into or have gotten to know the folks setting the village budget.
Sorry I veered off topic. Montini is in the 5A final vs Joliet Catholic.
What I said was “Did anyone else notice that all the Glenbards are still alive in the playoffs? Glenbard East only won 4 games thus was not playoff eligible. So I was correct, all the Glenbards who made the playoffs were still in the playoffs at time of that post. You read the statement wrong. If you were up on your high school football you would have known that GBE did not make the playoffs this year. You must be Meats buddy or maybe you are Meat just using another moniker? Only EJ know the truth.
Well,
at least one high school with Downers Grove residents is going to the State Football Championship game ,we wish them good luck too.
Montini really took it to Woodstock yesterday. The combination of 6 foot 6inch, quarterback Pechloff to wonder kids (3) Westerkamp recievers was a site to be seen. When the defense reacted to the aerial attack, the Broncos ran, and ran and ran ( one running play went 94yds from scrimmage).
They will have their hands full with Joliet Catholic.
5A is both a state championship game and a Catholic school championship. Is it okay to say it’s David versus Goliath? Joliet Catholic is the giant. Montini has shown determination and focus.
Go Broncos!
I would like to know how many former Driscol Catholic kids are on that Montini team. Maybe it wont be such a David v. Goliath match up after all. Fun game either way, I love high school football, especially at playoff time!!
There are two kids from Driscoll, I believe, on the Montini football squad, one is a star running back, Campanella.
Interesting, Joliet Catholic used to be in 6, if not 7A…population must be coming down.
I believe Montini picked up two star girls, from Driscoll’s women’s state Championship basketball team and are adding those girl’s to the Montini squad that already starred Michaela Johnson. Not really into female basketball ( kind of like female golf)… But this girl’s team should be fun to watch this season.
Got an email from Montini Coach A today. They have 5 kids from DC. Coach A told me they are all doing great things for his program!! Good luck Montini!!
