D99: Best to toss these

The State Officials and Employee Ethics Act, 5 ILCS 430/1 et seq makes clear no board member or employee may intentionally use any district property or resources in connection with any political activity. The Illinois Council of School Attorneys have specifically vetted that point.

D99: Open meeting act violations?

The next D99 BOE meeting is Monday night at 7pm.  It’s 8:20 as I write this on Saturday Sunday, less than 47 35 hours before the meeting.  As per the Illinois Open Meetings Act (5 ILCS 120/2.02 (a)), the posting of an agenda for each regular meeting must be at least 48 hours in advance [...]

D99: anchors aweigh?

Posted 15 September 2009 | By | Categories: District 99 | Comments Off

Updating a couple boat-anchor issues that continue to highlight D99′s BOE problems, but could see some movement in the near future after years of inaction. Recording meetings. School Board member Deb Boyle got her chance to bring up recording open school board meetings at the 9/14 workshop.  It would entail putting up a video or [...]

D99: inaccurate meeting minutes

Posted 09 September 2009 | By | Categories: District 99 | 8 Comments

The D99 published meeting minutes for 7/20 (that were approved on 8/15) contain factual errors that would have been prevented with an accurate recording or verbatim minutes record of the meeting. -There was not a first public Reception of Visitors (listed as item 4. on the minutes).  Board President Julia Beckman asked the public to [...]

The following opinion is not DGreport’s: it’s mine. After consistent reportage in The Tribune and The Reporter, and here at DGreport, The Sun weighs in 10 days later, with a story of a different meeting.

Village skinny 07/28

Podcast on your computer in 23 minutes or less. In less time than it took to get home the village had posted up a complete recording of tonight’s council workshop meeting.  Less than 23 minutes.  How many years has the 99 Board of Education been saying yes we’re for it, yet not getting it done? [...]

D99: Wilco Tango Foxtrot

Posted 21 July 2009 | By | Categories: District 99 | 10 Comments

EJ has the skinny on the meeting.  I was mainly there to record the meeting (more on that later)-being 6’4″ makes me useful.  Here’s some of my additional thoughts on the juvenile spectacle that the D99 school board meeting turned into Monday night: 1) When a board member is recognized to speak, will the rest [...]

Dear Scott,

Posted 20 July 2009 | By | Categories: District 58, Education | 8 Comments

The following does not represent the editorial opinion of DGreport.  It represents mine. I’ve written several times here and other places at the dysfunctional nature of the past D58 school board.  Of the refusal to share information with, in particular, you, Scott O’Connell, as a sitting school board member; of the need to open the [...]
